Control of aggression between elephants

Sandrine, a 28-year-old Asian elephant (Elephas maximus), showed aggressive behaviour towards her peers.

An orphaned elephant, fed and raised by man, she was poorly socialized to elephants. His reintroduction with his congeners was very poorly managed, some of them injured and was therefore kept in isolation.

We had to propose different solutions when she arrived at the zoo where she was destined to live with Dora, a 35-year-old female of the same species, well socialized.

Sandrine immediately displayed aggressiveness towards Dora.

A program using soothing pheromones from faecated mammals proved to be a success.
