Patrick Pageat is one of the founders of IRSEA. Born on December 10, 1960 in Villepinte (France), he obtained his diploma as a veterinary doctor at the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon in 1983, followed by a master's degree in Entomology and Physiology of the Insect in 1985.
Doctor of the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris) with a thesis on the predatory behaviour of Philanthus triangulum (a wasp that paralyzes bees to feed its prey, he founded the behavioural medicine consultation of the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon in 1983 and that of Maisons Alfort in 1985 with the support of Professor Hull.
In 1995, he published “Pathology of Behaviour du Chien”, a reference work republished in 1999 and translated into three languages. As part of his teaching activity he will be one of the initiators of the Diploma Inter-Schools of Behavioural Veterinary.
In 1996 he was one of the co-founders of the European Society of Veterinary Clinical Ethology and in 1998 of the European College of Behavioral Medicine of Pets (ECVBM-CA), which, under his presidency, became the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioral Medicine (ECAWBM).
After 8 years of professional activity combining liberal clinical activity, teaching and research, he created Pherosynthèse in 1995, with Hugues Lucas de Leyssac. At this research institute, which has since become IRESH, it has filed more than 200 international patents.
In addition to his duties at IRSEA, he is also Associate Professor of Applied Ethology and Animal Welfare at E.I. Purpan.
